CBSE Exam Pattern 2024-25

CBSE Exam Pattern 2024-25 for Class 11 and 12:

The Central Board of Secondary Education announced the change in CBSE exam pattern 2024-25 for class 11 and 12 from the new academic year. The goal of this adjustment is to improve students’ practical and analytical abilities.

In order to evaluate students’ comprehension and application of concepts in real-life situations, competency-based questions have become increasingly prevalent in the exam pattern. An assessment of students’ knowledge and skills that is more comprehensive is anticipated as a result of this change.

Important modifications to the CBSE Exam Pattern 2024-25 for Class 11 and 12 include:

  • More Competency-Based Questions
  • Including Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Less Emphasis on Traditional Answer Types

Modifications to the CBSE Exam Pattern 2024-25 for Class 11 and 12 include:

1. 50% Weightage for Competency-Based Questions: Exam questions measuring students’ application of knowledge in real-world situations will now make up a larger portion of exam papers. The questions will include the following:

  • Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Case-based questions
  • Source-based integrated questions

2. 20%  Weightage for Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs):

Select response questions, or MCQs, will account for 20% of the final score. These kinds of questions are there to help students develop their ability to think critically and make snap decisions.

3. 30% Weightage for Constructed Response Type Questions:

To create room for the competency-based questions, the weighting for traditional answer type questions, such as short and long answer questions, has been lowered from 40%.
